Literature Text

“Hey Dad,” Steve asked, “what’s out in space?”

“Space mermaids, obviously,” Steve’s Dad said.

Steve bet five dollars that there weren’t, became an astronaut, and went to space for ten years. There were no mermaids.

Steve went home to claim his five dollars. His money was now worthless, for America had been conquered by manatees.
:iconomgdragonfly: :iconsaysplz: Write about mermaids in space

And I can I can never say no to Dragonfly. Of course, I can't even handle a simple task like that, and thus create a story with there clearly being no mermaids in space whatsoever. PLEASE FORGIVE ME DF! ;____;

We can gather from the subtext that Steve's Dad took the moron bet and welcomed the aquatic overlords just to spite his son, who had been hopping around the vacuum of space for ten years. What is the meaning behind this? Is it an Oedipal father/son power struggle? A metaphor for man's resistance agains the forces around him? Steve's Dad's a total bitch? BEGIN THE ARTISTIC DISCUSSION.

ALL HAIL KING MANATEE THE THIRD.
