It’s days like yesterday when you feel great about life because irony finally works in your favor.

For some reason, I felt a horrible case of senioritis/really want to stay home and play videogames disorder, and to add insult to injury, it was a cloudy, chilly, wet, dark morning when it takes an hour after sunrise for you to even recognize it’s morning. So I was dragging myself out of bed and to school, and lamenting to 2Tears before school on how much I really wanted to go home and play videogames, but such was probably not a valid excuse to miss school (he wanted to go home and read). And then…we got told that there was a water break in the building.

Long story short-I got to go home at nine in the morning yesterday. BEST. DAY. EVER. AND YOU KNOW I TOTALLY DIDN’T WASTE THE ENTIRE DAY PLAYING FINAL FANTASY VII IF THAT’S WHAT YOU’RE THINKING! NOPE, DEFINATLY-THEY KILLED AERITH THOSE DANG WRITERS MAAAAAAAAH I KNOW IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN FOR LIKE FIVE YEARS BUT MAAAAAAH! The good news is that I should be able to finish the entire game over the weekend, meaning I’ll actually leave my room, go back online, and actually do stuff again. But of course, I have to go through my usual post-game routine, including-

1) About three hours worth of starry-eyed disbelieve that it’s over.
2) Long walk
3) Binging on fanstuffs
4) Ranting about all the things that I liked/made me want to tear apart the computer and
5) Buying FF VIII

In other news, I’m actually trying to overcome my coloring phobia! 8D If you have anyone in particular you want me to try to strangle out a colored attempt, please let me know. It’s just hair. Ah, I love hair, but it’s turning out to be so difficult to color! I suspect that fabric may be hard to master too. Especially the wrinkles, nyar.

Have you made it this far? Good, have a cookie.

This is a curiosity question, but do you like my art style? Is there anything I need to work on improving? Sorry, I know that said question is pretty much the artistic equivalent of ‘does this dress make me look fat?’, but I was wondering is all.

California overruled the gay marriage ban. Woot!

Oh yeah, and I signed up for freshman orientation in early July. Only a month and a half away. Oh dear. Oh yeah, and I’m job hunting this weekend-if I can drag myself away from my game.

Have you made it this far? Good, have another cookie.

*WHIPLASH'D*

Why am I finding about it now, from you, that my state has overruled the gay marriage ban?!

*NEWSPAPERS*

Holy crap on a crap. And the Governator's even approving it this time (Or is it because he can't VETO it this time?). Holy gosh. My county's already scrabbling to handle what they expect to be a wave of marriage license applications. And trying to change some gender specific wording.

'Course people are also scrabbling to get a marriage ban amendment on the ballots for November. I'm afraid that we'd likely lose if that. But I can vote this time 'round if it does. Because one vote totally makes a difference.

AWESOME! BATMAN OTOMOTOPIAS!

Man, I didn't realize there was such a mad wave over there. Dang, I hope it's a 'happy to finally have it' thing and not a 'snag it while we still can' thing. 'Governator' made me snicker. I dunno-I think it would be kind of hard to get it to be an ammendment-I'm not sure how it would fly in the Supreme Court. But then again, with some of the barkers we have on the court...why can't you vote if that happens?

You've never heard the term Governator? Maybe it's a local thing, although I thought every state was all for making fun of California electing a action movie star for governor in a disastrous free-for-all election.

OK. This is how I understand it. Previously our legislature just barely voted in favor of a law that would allow gay marriage, but Arny vetoed it saying the people already voted on the issue and chose to ban gay marriage blah blah bullcrap. And apparently this happened twice, so I must have missed one.

This current thing happening right now I believe is a result of the '04 SF marriages that were voided. A couple would've taken it to court and that would've worked it's way up the courts appeal after appeal until it's at our Supreme Court.

Our Supreme Court hasn't been one for taking risks, but suddenly one of our judges was like, "You know what, this is straight up discrimination, yo," and he got the ball rolling and ultimately it was a 4-3 decision that it was unconstitutional to discriminate based on sexual orientation. That's right, we got that big ass blanket protection here in California, that's a first, not even Massachusetts can say that. It's pretty much the sky's the limit, ultimately including marriage, but stopping just before employee's benefits, because apparently that's regulated on a federal level. So company's don't have to extend spousal benefits to gay spouses. But they might anyway to make people like them.

COURSE that's pissing off people who don't like it, ACTIVIST JUDGES!!!1 and all that, and they're immediately starting a petition to get a marriage amendment ban on the ballot. In fact, I believe they've already submitted it and it's being reviewed to see if it's got enough signatures (which it probably does). And then come November people will vote, and if it passes it'll go on our Constitution which is the people overruling the judges which means we're screwed. And previous counts on gay marriage put 50~60% against and 45~% for, and I'm afraid it's probably not changed much since. But who knows, that's about 4 years worth of new voters, myself among them. I'll get mah vote it.

I thought it would be a common term around in Caliland, but it's not that common around here. We're too busy thinking up derogitory terms for our own governor. I was more on a 'whoa, that was random' mindset more than anything else when he was being elected.

SF couples...where have I heard that before? Four years ago AH WORK BRAIN FRESHMAN YEAR. I think that was the year my own state said 'No gay marriage and you suck' in our lovely court system, so I guess my fury might have whiped that part out. But it sounds vaguely familar, though damn did it take a long time to make it all the way through the court of appeals (that's our lightning quick democratic system!). Man, you guys really got the whole shebang! Way to go Cali!

Oh, I see, for a second I thought they were proposing to send it through THE Constitution, to which I would say 'WAIT WHOA TWO THIRDS IN BOTH HOUSES!' But if on a state level you can bypass judicial rulings then GODDAMN. Man, that's just...damn. 'Hey guys you can get married now. PSYCE!' But I do think tensions ease a bit year by year, so thats four bits. Maybe it's enough-it seems pretty close right now. Here's hoping the Good Fairy of Human Rights takes a visit sometime this year.

At this point in the year, Going to School is for losers. All the cool kids are skipping, you know? (hur hur I wish I was a cool kid)

I like your drawing style. It reminds me a bit of *Miyukitty's, with lots of detail in the lineart - so much that it gives your works a density that lack of color doesn't becomes a detriment to your work.

And something about it gives me the impression that you'll probably get more and more realism-oriented as you go along, especially in proportions and details and such. You don't have as much of that big-goo-goo-eyed anime vibe going on in your drawings as a lot of people do.

Same here, but if I slip then they'll take away the shiney 'YOU A SMART PERSON NOW DAWG' on my diploma, which makes me mad.

Wow, thank you very much! :D I didn't expect anyone to answer that-I'm quite thankful. Perhaps I may lean in that dirrection, but I'm not gonna lie-I like drawing cutsie anime stuff. So...combo maybe? Maybe things will change?

Ah, regardless, thank you so much for taking the time to say that! And I'll need to check out some of the kitty's work.

It's hard to say how anyone's art style will turn out. I think generally it tends to go more in what ends up being easiest for you as opposed to what you would actually like to see in someone else's work. I dislike my own style, for instance, and would change it in a second if I could, but it's just what comes naturally to me. So I don't think you have to worry too much about it - things fall into place as you keep improving. I think. God I sound pretentious.

Naaaah, you don't sound pretentious. I think that's pretty much how it works-just the dang ';p' word needs to come into play. And how could you not like your style, it's cute and colorful :)
